ACHIEVEMENTS of the patient VITALY Y. (ATO soldier)





Vitaliy Y., 25 years old, on March 1, 2015, during a shelling in the Donetsk airport area (Spartak village), received a mine explosive injury: the penetrating shrapnel wound of the left forearm in the lower third with a fracture of the elbow and displacement of the shattered bones. Multiple shrapnel wounds of the chest, left shoulder, left forearm, left leg.

On July 13, 2015 after a comprehensive neuro physiological examination the patient was admitted to NODUS for free rehabilitation in the framework of the charitable project on rehabilitation of soldiers and volunteers injured in the ATO zone.


At the time of admission, the patient complained of the functional disorder of the left arm, sharp pain, numbness in the left arm, especially in the wounded region, mostly while carrying the loads, decreased muscle strength of the hand. The use of analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs did not help much.

Main rehabilitation tasks of the individual program for this patient included:

  • removal of the metal shrapnel pieces from the soft tissues of the arm&hand

  • kinesiological therapy with THERA-VITAL

The patient was thoroughly examined and prepared for surgical intervention, which was done on July 16, 2015 .

The postoperative recovery of the patient went well.

The patient successfully completed the inpatient rehabilitation course and is discharged from NODUS to be on the medical monitoring control at the place of residence.
